Texting variations and abbreviations

Was discussing with Vivianne and noting down variations in text messaging for fun.I thought it was also good to make a list of my own pet peeves. For example, if you type to me "tt u wan 2 c me later", I think that you must hate me to the core since I feel horrid reading abbreviations of that sort. To some people, using abbreviations will make one sound curt and even impolite; while to others it seems concise and to the point. And hence texting has a lot of room for miscommunication. I think it's particularly good to be concious of how you text, so as to analyse how others may have misinterpreted you. (if the need arises)

Do you prefer:
"And", "N" or "&" ?
"Be" or "b"?
"Maybe" or "mayb" (what's with typing one more 'e'?)
"Your "or "yr"?
What about "year" or "yr"?
"Really" or "rly"?
"You all" or "y'all"?
"Important" or "impt"?
"Nothing" or "nth"?
"Serious" or "srs"?
"Know" or "noe"?
"About" or "abt"?
"Have" or "hv"?
"Above" or "abv"? (Does "abv" have its fricative sound dragged when read in your head?)
"Want to" or "wanna"?
"Happy birthday" or "bdae" (cos "sunday" and "sundae" are pronounced in the same way?)
"Because" or "bcos" or "cos"?
"People" or "ppl" or "peeps"?
"Rocks" or "rox" or "rockz"? (the "x" and "z"s)
"What" or "whut"? (Do you consider 'whut' to be more rude?)
"Remember", "rmb" or "rmbr"? (sometimes an extra 'r' may suit your taste)

Homophones/  numerals:
"You" or "U"
"The" or "e" or "d" (that is totally a different pronunciation...)?
"Then" or "den"?
"See" or "c"?
"That" or "Tt"?
"Before", "bfore" or "b4"?
"Hate" or "h8"?
"Going to" or "gg 2"?
"Tonight" or "2nite"
"tomorrow", "tmr" or "tml"? (influenced by singaporean pronunciation)

Common in netspeak (which some cannot stand)
"kewl", "hawt", "qtpie" or  "I can't even"
"lol" vs "haha" (I know some people who will never use "lol". Not so sure about their reasons)

Sincerity lost in abbreviating?
"No problem" VS "np"
"Thanks" VS "thx"
"Sorry" VS "sry"
"Please" VS "pls" VS "plz"
"Talk to you later" or "ttyl"?
"Bye" or "bb"?
"Be right back" or  "brb"

Probably the easiest to misinterpret (and the one which varies the most:)
"Okay" "okayy" (varying according to the number of y's)
"ok." "k" "k can" "k can." (punctuation matters)
How about using "sure" to avoid the okay mess?

Really just personal preference:
"omg" "omgee" "omy"
"wth" "wts" "wtf" (vivianne said she cannot stand "wts" but is fine with the other two. I don't understand)
"yea" "yeah" "yah" "ya" (perhaps a longer vowel sound sounds better than a "ya"?)

Grammar:
When people cannot differentiate it's from its
(and the list goes on)

Punctuation:
It's fine. No need. (Full stops. Make me. Halt. )
How many question marks can you stand??
Huh?! Not just ? but ?!
What about a lack of punctuation
Or run-on sentences like huh I can't breathe while reading your text why you do this

Emoticons:
Do you use the whatsapp emoticons or prefer typing out :) ? Why so?

We've been focusing on singular phrases or features, so perhaps let us piece things into sentences.
Do these sentences make you cringe?

Y r u lyk dis
Most people probably have a problem with "lyk" I guess.

Ppl hv u collected d ws? (Example suggested by Vivianne)
Do you prefer "ws", "wksht" (Vivianne's wholeheartedly against this) or "worksheet"?

Feel free to suggest any other variations in text messaging which you may have spotted. As well as pet peeves.
At least now I know why I randomly ask people "are you okay" and "are you sure you're not pissed with me". Because of my problem with abbreviations.
