I had a really weird day yesterday.
After tuition, I went to grab a bite. Along the way, I was startled as I saw my primary school classmate looking so different. Rather weird, with a long fringe.
Anyway, I was real lucky and got a spot at a table in the library within a short span of time. While I was reading my notes, some random senior popped by and sat in front of me.
Not knowing who she was (as I racking my brains for some distant memory), I guessed her name. Apparently her identity was always confused with the name I guessed. Phew.
Then came her barrage of questions about how school is currently, CCA, and her handy tips on studying for econs and GP.
We chatted for about 30 minutes (part of me was really active in keeping the conversation, part of me was really lost on what was actually happening and kept wondering how on earth did she appear here). And then she left.
After a while, another weird occurrence came knocking on my door. I was wearing an aqua informal house shirt. And that weird girl, at the table across from mine, started waving and pointing towards me. Thinking that I definitely do not know of such an acquaintance, I turned back repeatedly thinking that she was signalling and somehow talking to the wall behind me. In response to my confused look, she held up her entire foolscape pad under the light, and pointed (albeit forcefully and repeatedly and comically) at the labeling of her foolscape. "Oh, so she was from my school..."I sort of heaved a sigh of relief. Finally I took off my earphones and heard her say "Whoa you're in aqua too! Yay Aqua is the best". I gave an awkward smile and said in my bestest and most enthusiastic voice,"Yeah. Yay." and turned back to do my work.
After a while, I decided to go over to her table to make polite conversation (not doing so seemed wrong, though I could never place a finger on the reason as to why so). Looking at her math work, I questioned her on her level of study. So she was an SH1. And a new intake. Seems like council's work of injecting house spirit has been fruitful yeah.
Next, she finished her work, bidded me goodbye (what). A guy sitting at her table came over to mine and told me that she left her book behind, would I please contact my friend. Explaining that I was not really her friend, but just in hold of a tenuous schoolmate relationship, I still kept the book, and started referring to it.
It was newly bought-- no name, nothing personalized and no information provided. I mobilized my connections, asking Ying Li if there were any way of contacting the girl. But my way of identification (long hair, spectacles) was too vague.
As I was about to hand the goods over to the lost and found counter, she appeared before me. It was so timely that I was quite freaked out (not really though, cos I was too tired to have expressions).
"Oh you kept it for me?" "Yeah... the guy over there handed it to me" "Oh..." "What's your name? And class?" she told me hers and asked for my name. I didn't give her my class cos I didn't see a need for it (she could have asked). But judging from her pause and hesitation, she did want me to give her more information. Funny how I withhold information when people want to know, and give too much when people do not want to hear any. Reverse psychology me and you shall get what you want.
Anyway, it was a real weird day. And I've no idea why I had such meetings with people.
Why are there so many people staying in my area btw.
